4th April (Wednesday)
Our flight to Tokyo was at 6am on NorthWest, so woke up at about 3am and dad gave us a lift to the airport and we reached the airport at about 4am.
The flight was ahead of schedule and we reached Narita airport at about 1pm. Custom and baggage clearance were very fast and we were at the exit at around 1.30pm. Went to the Friendly Airport Limousine counter to buy bus ticket to Shinjuku, ticket costs 3000yen.
The bus ride took about 90mins and by the time we reached Shinjuku, the weather was overcast. The place where we are staying, is located near Shin-okubu station, one station north of Shinjuku station along the Yamanonte green line. Unfortunately by the time we reached the station, it was raining very heavily. We felt abit miserable, having dragged our luggage up and down the train station, across the platform, and now under the rain and windy conditions. We have no umbrellas and it was around 4pm then, but luckily there was a Yoshinoya restaurant just opposite the train station so we ordered some food as we were also quite hungry by then.
The rain didnt stopped and later we got to know that it was quite unusual to rain this heavy at this time of the year and it even snowed in some parts of Tokyo that faithful evening! Have to brave the rain to go to the inn, borrowed umbrellas then go back to pick up our luggage. Miserable hor?
We were not staying in those typical hotel but a small inn owned by a Taiwanese man. The room is very basic and toilet very very small but it costs 4000yen per night per person so beggars cant be chosers :) have to live with it for the 4 nights that we are putting up.
For the rest of the night, we didnt do much, the rain stopped by 6pm and we took a cab to the Shinjuku Takashimaya Times Square to shop for awhile and have dinner.
